Promoe – Shoot Me

Promoe - Shoot Me

Promoe released a new track a couple of days ago at Looptroop Rockers website. It’s produced by a norwegian producer called Jason Dean Beats. I haven’t heard anything from Jason Dean before but according his MySpace he has recently worked with Prop Dylan and Big Shug (!) which sounds really promising. The cuts is made by another Oslo based producer/dj – Dj Final.

I’m not that fund over the lyrics, feels kinda like a cliché BUT I do like the sad story in contrary to the happy beat with the laidback cuts. And hey, Promoe delivers over Jason Deans playful beat. It’s a well produced track definitely deserved to be downloaded which you can do here below:

Promoe – Dressed To Kill Under A Full Moon + Gunz

Sorry for completely missing out to blog about Promoes last two songs of the month. But better late then never I suppose and hey, Promoe is one month late with a track!

promoe_dressedtokill

The track for July is called “Dressed To Kill Under A Full Moon” and the beat is signed Jimmy Ledrac who also produced “Sunday Morning“. The variation of the tracks sound is kinda wide which is highly appreciated.

For August we have “Gunz” featuring no other than the jamaican reggae artist Lutan Fyah. The title itself gives you a great hint what the track is about and Dj Large gives you that classic reggae vibe to it. Makes me go back and spin Promoes album “Long Distance Runner“.

Video and Mixtape from Promoe

Promoe Bondfangeri

Earlier this year Promoe released “Kråksången” which was his first album in Swedish and even if you haven’t hear the whole album I’m guessing you’ve heard the hit single Svennebanan. It seems that he enjoyed rapping in Swedish and the recently released mixtape “Bondfångeri”is completely in Swedish (apart from a track by “Per Vers” which is in Danish). The mixtape is available in digital form through iTunes Store, Spotify or for free from Looptroop Rockers homepageand the CD will only be sold at shows. “Bondfångeri” features guest appearances from Allyawan, Afasi, Cosmic, Embee(Yes you read right!), Organismen, Per Vers, Sam-e, Supreme and Timbuktu. The amazing artwork (which continues in the same line as “Kråksången”) is designed byInk Graphix.

On top of this the video to the second single from “Kråksången”, called “Mammas Gata”was released 2 days ago. The video (and track) features guest appearances from Andreas Grega, Supreme and Timbuktu. The video is directed by kamisol

Promoe – Generation Kill

… but can we blame the children when they kill the children / and can we blame the young men when they become the gun men / when we create the monster but let’s expose the sponsor / cus i wanna know who’s responsible.

Finally the song of the month for June by Promoe has arrived from the Basecamp Studios. This time the song of the month is produced by Mr Sloap, a riddim/reggae producer based in Skåne, Sweden. Hanouneh, who is completely unknown for me, is backing up on the vocals and she pulls it off great. According to her MySpace profile she is a former jazz vocalist who has moved on to reggae and hip hop with a political message in her songs. She and Mr Sloap runs a label together called DonDada where they produces and distrubuting reggae and dancehall music.

Promoe – Sunday Morning

You want to break free from the scary, or sometimes boring, world – but the drugs make you get really caught up in the system you try to set yourself free from… – Promoe

Promoe’s “track of the month” is called Sunday Morning and it’s a bit darker than the previous tracks. Influenced on a Sunday morning on his way to a train in a almost unpeopled city in addition to the junkies Promoe started to write on what would to become this month’s song.

It’s produced by Jimmy Ledrac who has mixed the music too and it’s a well match for the lyrics. The vocals is recorded and mixed by Astma and Sören von Malmborg has apparently mastered everything in Kabul, Afghanistan(?!).

Stor – Nya Skolans Ledare

Stor - Nya skolans ledare

It’s been two years since Stor released his mix-tape “Dikter ifrån bikten” and since then much has happened. Stor left the group Vendetta to focus on his solo career and has started to work with The Salazar Brothers. He is now also part of the Ayla collective consisting of  Mack Beats, Carlito and  Mohammed Ali. The last release from Ayla was the critically acclaimed mix-tape “Processen” by Mohammed Ali and now the time has finally come for Stor to drop his album, called “Nya Skolans Ledare”.

The first single from the album, “Stockholmsnatt” featuring Adam Tensta and Danjah, was released in November last year and the album was originally scheduled for release in December last year. So a lot of people have been waiting for this (me included) but it was well worth the wait, Stor and Ayla really proves that they are in fact “Leaders of the new school”. The album is produced by The Salazar Brothers, Mack Beats, Masayada and Ears and it features guest appearances from Adam Tensta, Danjah Fille, Jacco, Mohammed Ali, Petter, Promoe, and Sepideh Vaziri.

“Nya skolans ledare” is available for free through Whoa, Playahead, TopStreetWear and MyBestFriendIsMyGrind.

This year is definitely belonging to Ayla and their next release seems to be Mack Beats solo album.

Promoe – Kråksången

Promoe @ Ljunggrens

Last night Promoe’s release party for his swedish album “Kråksången” went down at Pluto in Västerås. Tonight it’s time for Promoe to take stage at Ljunggrens in Stockholm. The release date for the record is 29th of April and you can pre-order the album as usually over at Bengans.

And since yesterday evening you can listen to “Kråksången’s” all fifteens tracks featuring Supreme, Timbuktu, PST/Q, Organism 12, Afasi, Vincent and Magnus Betnér(?!) at Promoe’s MySpace! I haven’t listen to the album yet but I guarantee that we will come back with a review on the record later on. Happy listening!

Promoe – Growin’ Up On The Road ft. Cosmic

promoefeatcos_growinguponthe-road

If you find it hard to believe how I can release ‘Svennebanan’ one day, and this the next; understand that we got too many styles for anyone to keep us pigeon holed. – Promoe

A great statement by Promoe for all fans that have started to doubt on him since he released the controversial track “Svennebanan“. Anyhow, Promoe has released a new song every month from his hopefully upcoming english album (not to be mistaked with his swedish album “Kråksången”) during 2009. April’s song of the month featuring no other than former Looptroop Rockers-member CosMIC! Definitely a warm welcoming this spring. The title explains the track fair enough and I love hearing them both on a typical Astma & Rocwell-production like this one.

You can also find the lyrics and .wav-format at Looptroop Rockers own website.

Promoe – Svennebanan

The release of Promoe’s album “Kråksången” is getting closer and now the video to his first single “Svennebanan” is finally out! POPE Records described it on their blog as “the sickest, funniest and also dopest video Promoe ever made. /…/ You’re not ready!” and I have to agree. The video is directed by Kamisol and the track is produced by Filthy. The track will be avaliable through iTunes and other digital stores later this week.

“Krångsången” will be out on JuJu Records on April 29, you can pre-order the album here!

Update: Click here to download the lyrics to svennebanan (ripped from the Looptroop Rockers guestbook, unfortunately I didn’t find any way to directly link a single post from their guestbook)

Promoe – The Logic of Dreams

Promoe - The Logic of Dreams

In between shooting the video for the first single of his upcoming album and teaching rap at a hiphop-school, Promoe still manages to keep his promise of releasing one track each month. Today he’s releasing his march-track, called “The Logic of Dreams”, through Looptroop Rockers homepage. The track is produced by Astma & Rocwell who has also been involved in all of the previous tracks this year and Promoe has this to say about the track:

“It was recorded during one of many late night sessions in Astma’s studio (just like ‘New Day’ and ‘Blind’ were), when people finally have stopped calling and emailing for the day. A perfect time to be creative. Enjoy!”

Promoe is also sharing a track that he recorded in 2005 together with Cosmic and Tenor Diamond. The track is called “Bureaucrazy” and for those of you who haven’t heard it before I really recommend you to download it!
